Translational Science Research Project Awards
The NUCATS Translational Science Research Project Awards program seeks proposals on the 2026 topic: "Transforming Healthcare Delivery: Innovations for Reach, Access and Patient Connection."
Overview
This award supports innovative, multidisciplinary proposals that reimagine how care is designed, offered, accessed, communicated, delivered and evaluated for impact. It focuses on reach, scalability and real-world feasibility, supporting interventions that address gaps in how evidence-based care is identified, communicated, linked and sustained in practice.
- Intent to fund: Up to two awards
- Maximum amount: $200,000 over two years

Eligibility
- Must be faculty from Northwestern University or a NUCATS Institute clinical affiliate (NMH, Lurie Children’s or Shirley Ryan AbilityLab).
- Must be engaged in research and be eligible to apply for follow-on external grant funding as a PI or MPI.
- Must demonstrate prior success in securing funding for projects of this scale or larger.

Please review the 2026 RFA for application requirements, and first submit your intent to apply below. All applications must be submitted through Competitions, Northwestern's online submissions platform. Late or incomplete submissions will not be reviewed.
Intent to Apply
To ensure a timely and effective proposal review process, submit an Intent to Apply by Monday, Feb. 23. This should include contact information and a working project title for planning purposes (e.g., determining the appropriate scale and disciplinary expertise of the panel.)
