How do you get your research to market? NUCATS can foster your biomedical innovation and entrepreneurial activity with cross-school collaborations, awarding pilot grants and other funding opportunities, and helping to evaluate the commercial potential for research.  NUCATS works with and offers the following services that will take your research from benchside to bedside.

Innovation and New Ventures Office (INVO)

NUCATS works closely with INVO, who manages Northwestern's invention disclosure, assessment, patenting and marketing processes. INVO actively scouts for research with commercialization potential, offers guidance on development and coaches inventors through the process of protecting intellectual property rights, while also frequently holding events and programs to spur commercialization and entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (EIR)

NUCATS works with two EIRs at INVO that are dedicated to the biomedical space.

Chicago Innovation Mentors (CIM)

CIM is a team based mentoring program for faculty and students developing new biomedical innovations. Volunteer teams of mentors drawn from the local community provide advice to NU mentees on how best to advance their project or company down the commercialization path.  To learn more about participating in the program, please contact Jim Bray

Pilot Grant Funding

NUCATS directly administers several pilot and seed grant funding programs, including the Dixon Translational Research awards.
