The Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM.  Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

ACRP CERTIFIED PROFESSIONALS PLEASE NOTE: The credits earned at this program can be used towards the 12 clinical research credits needed to maintain ACRP certification.

This continuing nursing education activity was approved for 5.0 contact hours by the Illinois Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. 

Conference Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
1.        Discuss core concepts of clinical research and how physicians can become more involved as clinical trial   investigators
2.        Review the current ethical and regulatory issues across therapeutic areas in clinical research
3.        Promote best practices to improve the clinical trial experiences of study subjects
4.        Examine the efficiency of clinical trials and the relationship between the pharmaceutical industry and study personnel and subjects
5.        Evaluate coercion and the role in ethics of financial incentives based on information from NIH Chair of the Department of Clinical Bioethics, Ezekiel Emanuel, MD, MSc, PhD.
6.        Review the emerging technologies stem cell biology and nanotechnology and their application in treatment of various diseases based on a plenary address from John Kessler, MD, Director or the Evelyn Frances Feinberg Clinical Neuroscience Research Institute at Northwestern University.
7.        Discuss methodology for increasing the number of investigators involved in clinical and translational research and define training opportunities for investigators and clinical research professionals
