NUCATS Research Team Support (RTS)

The Northwestern University  research enterprise is distinguished by its ability to define and lead team research that lies at the intersection of traditional disciplinary boundaries.  Research Team Support (RTS) within the NUCATS Institute focuses on advancing team-based, cross-disciplinary, translational life and biomedical sciences research.  RTS serves as a conduit between the practitioners of team science and scholars/researchers studying the science of team science.   The science of team science is a relatively new interdiscipline that allows investigators to consider the processes by which multi- and interdisciplinary scientific research teams organize themselves and how they think and do their work together in such a way that they arrive at breakthroughs attainable by neither individual nor strictly additive efforts.  RTS partners with the Science of Networks in Communities (SONIC) research group; Northwestern Institute on Complex Systems (NICO); the Complexity in Action Network (CANet); team researchers in the Kellogg School of Management; CollaboLab; and the Center for Technology and Social Behavior (CTSB) at Northwestern.  Using evidence-based direction, RTS amplifies cooperative and collaborative faculty-led research and expands the University’s capacity to pursue team-based, translational research initiatives.

RTS Activities
