The Technology Development Program (TDP) aims to create a culture of innovation targeted to accelerating the development, validation, and dissemination of new clinical and translational technologies. The primary functions of the TDP include:

  1. Pilot grant funding, in conjunction with the Research Discovery Program, to support the earliest stages of technology development.

  2. Conducting “market assessments” of innovative clinical and translational technologies by utilizing Kellogg School of Management students. These assessments will include issues related to intellectual property and will position projects to receive future federal or private funding. Full details will be announced later this year.

  3. Identifying opportunities to integrate novel clinical and translational research technologies being developed at NU into new and existing core resources. TDP coordinates with the Translational Technologies and Resources Program for this function.

  4. Creating new training programs and enhancing existing programs. TDP will interface with the Center for Clinical Research Education to help train the next generation of outstanding clinical and translational researchers.
