Virginia Bishop, MD, MPH, assistant professor of Preventive Medicine and coordinator for professional experiences in the FSM’s Masters in Public Health Program, directs the Community Based Participatory Research Program (CBPR-P). Dr. Bishop is fluent in Spanish and is trusted by numerous community agencies. She is central to FSM training in community settings, experienced in carrying out community-based participatory research, and an active co-investigator on NIH-funded community-oriented projects in the FSM Department of Preventive Medicine. One of these is the newly NHLBI-funded Hispanic Community Health Study. Dr. Bishop also serves as preventive education manager for the Roberto Clemente Wildcats Student Health Center, a Chicago Public School-based clinic and chairs the Community Advisory Board.
