|  | Rick McGee, PhD, is associate professor of medical education and Associate Dean for Faculty Recruitment and Professional Development in Feinberg School of Medicine. Prior to joining NU in February, 2007, Dr. McGee held faculty and leadership positions at several academic health centers and the NIH. After 20 years of research in molecular pharmacology and the neurosciences, Dr. McGee turned is attention to mechanisms to support the professional development of young scientists and clinicians. He has developed and/or led PhD, MD/PhD, and clinical research training programs for MDs, many targeted to increasing diversity of students and faculty in academic health centers. The new faculty development processes he is establishing utilize group-based mentoring/coaching to augment classical mentoring. His current research uses interview-base methods to study mentoring as a process, the development of young scientists and influences on their career choices. He currently is the PI on a multi-year, national study of student career decision making supported by the NIGMS, and serves as the Program Director for the NU Collaborative Learning and Integrated Mentoring in the Biosciences (CLIMB) also supported by NIGMS. Dr. McGee has served on numerous NIH review panels and played leadership roles in national biomedical organizations such as the AAMC. |  |
